TableNinja Common Questions

Overview:

Answers:

Q: Can I use TableNinja and TableNinjaFT at the same time?

A: We do not officially support using TableNinja and TableNinjaFT simultaneously to play on PokerStars® and Full Tilt Poker® tables at the same time. The reason for this is that PokerStars® and Full Tilt Poker® run independently and therefore you need to configure you system very carefully to avoid potential conflicts.

We do have a number of users who use TableNinja and TableNinjaFT to play on PokerStars® and Full Tilt Poker® at the same time and they have created an unofficial thread about the best way to do this here. If you do decide to use TableNinja and TableNinjaFT simultaneously please test everything carefully at play money and be aware that we are not responsible for any issues that may occur.

Then open the Zip file and double click on the "setup.exe" file and follow the on-screen instructions in the installer.

Q: Why does TableNinja need to run as administrator on Windows Vista® and Windows 7®?

A: TableNinja is able to provide tons of great features because it interacts with Windows® and the PokerStars® software at a very low level. TableNinja needs to run as administrator to do all sorts of things, from sending mouse and keyboard input to PokerStars windows to saving hand history files and reading information from PokerStars®. TableNinja will automatically detect your system settings and attempt to Run as Adminstrator on its own if it is necessary. You'll just need to click continue on the User Account Control popup and everything should work smoothly.

Q: TableNinja could not detect my configuration, what should I do?

A: If TableNinja is unable to detect your configuration you will need to configure TableNinja manually. Click here for instructions.

Q: TableNinja is not automatically closing finished tournaments correctly, what should I do?

A: Please make sure that you have correctly chosen your "PokerStars® settings folder" on the "Setup" tab in TableNinja. This folder should be set to your PokerStars® "My Settings Folder" location, which you can view my opening the main lobby in PokerStars® and clicking "Help" → "Open My Settings Folder"

Q: Is TableNinja an AutoHotkey Script?

A: No, TableNinja was written from scratch and in no way uses AutoHotkey. It was built from the ground up and because of this TableNinja is faster, more versatile, more user friendly, and more stable than most AutoHotkey scripts.

A: All TableNinja purchase codes will be emailed to the email address that you used to purchase TableNinja once your payment has cleared. Q: I am experiencing a lot of lag when I use TableNinja

A: In the vast majority of cases, lag issues can be fixed by changing your configuration. If you are experiencing lag, please try the following steps:

  1. Verify that your, PokerStars® Theme and Table Layout are set correctly on the "Setup" Tab
  2. Try switching to either the Hyper-Simple, No Images or Classic themes with the default backgrounds (and change the settings on the "Setup" Tab accordingly).
  3. Make sure that your HUD is in no way covering the Pot Box, the buttons, or the cards.
  4. Disable frames on the "Table Control" tab.
  5. If none of the above options help, please ask for help on the TableNinja Forums.

Q: Does TableNinja support Omaha?

A: Yes TableNinja supports both Hold'em and Omaha.

Q: What Hand History File Path do I enter into TableNinja?

A: TableNinja should automatically detect your hand history folder and set it properly in most cases. However, if your PokerStars® username contains a space, comma, period, or some other special character you may need to set this folder manually. In this case please check the "Override User Folder" and then specify the file path where your hand history files are saved by PokerStars®

To find the File Path for your hand history files go to the PokerStars® lobby, click "Options" and click "Instant Hand History Options..." a PokerStars® Pop-up will appear with a box entitled "Where To Save". On the "Setup" tab in TableNinja click the "..." button next to the Main hand history folder file path and browse to the "Where to Save" folder. Then select the folder with your PokerStars® username. Also verify that you have the "Save my Hand History" checkbox checked and that your Language is set to English in PokerStars®.

Q: How do I change my PokerStars® Theme?

A: Detailed instructions on setting your PokerStars® theme, courtesy of TiltBuster.com, can be found here.

Q: Will my custom background work with TableNinja?

A: We only test TableNinja on the Classic, No Images and Hyper-Simple Themes with the default backgrounds and with completely black backgrounds. However, you are welcome to try your custom background with TableNinja. Generally solid color backgrounds that are not too close to the color of the buttons are likely to work with TableNinja. Please test any custom background at play money before using them with TableNinja in your regular games. Also be aware that we will only be testing new updates on the Classic, No Images and Hyper-Simple Themes with the default backgrounds and black backgrounds so anytime there is an update to TableNinja or PokerStars® you should make sure to test the new version with your custom background at play money.

Q: Will my custom theme work with TableNinja?

A: We only test TableNinja on the Classic, No Images and Hyper-Simple Themes. However, you are welcome to try your custom theme with TableNinja. You can check the "List of TableNinja compatible themes" thread on our forums here to see what themes other users have tried with TableNinja. The latest version of TableNinja is also compatible with a number of custom themes made by TiltBuster.com which you can download here. Also be aware that we will only be testing new updates on the Classic, No Images and Hyper-Simple Themes so anytime there is an update to TableNinja or PokerStars® you should make sure to test the new version with your custom theme at play money.

Q: Why does the Table Themes Menu Pop-up every time I use my "Right Click" hotkey?

A: PokerStars created a shortcut to have "Right Click" open the Table Themes menu by default. To disable this click the Options drop down in the PokerStars® Lobby and uncheck the "Right Click to show Table Themes" option.

Q: My purchase code isn't working

A: Please double check that you've pasted the purchase code into the text field correctly. Depending on your email setup the purchase code may be two lines so make sure you've got it copied and pasted completely. If you continue to have problems please email the support address provided in the error message.

Q: How can I give TableNinja as a gift?

A: We need to know the email address of the person you are giving the program to so that in the future if they wish to install the program on another machine, or purchases updates, or need customer support, we can easily link the person emailing us to a purchase. If you would like to give TableNinja as a gift please email us at the time of purchase with the email address for the person you are giving the program to.

Q: How can I use TableNinja with a gamepad or Joystick?

A: To use TableNinja with a joystick you will need to download and use a third party program such as Xpadder®. TableNinja does not directly read joystick input, but this program will convert your joystick input into keyboard or mouse commands which TableNinja can then assign to hotkeys.

Q: Does the Cycle Tables hotkey turn off when I target non-PokerStars® windows?

A: No, the Cycling Tables hotkeys stays on even when you are using other programs so that you can easily switch back to your tables anytime you like. Because of this we recommend assigning these hotkeys to a key you do not regularly use in other programs.

Q: Why doesn't the advanced action Check/Fold hotkey click check or fold when I use it on my turn when I use the Table In Foreground option?

A: We used to have the AA Check/Fold click the check or fold buttons if they appeared and the check/fold checkbox if they did not. The problem is that in the "Table in Foreground" method if you hit the AA check/fold hotkey right as a second table suddenly needed action, PokerStars® would put the second table into the foreground and you would accidently fold at that table. Obviously accidently folding a big hand is a huge problem so we made all the advanced action hotkeys not work on your turn under the Table In Foreground method.

Q: How can I be sure that TableNinja does not contain any spyware? Why does TableNinja connect to the internet?

A: We value privacy greatly, however to check for updates and validate purchase codes, TableNinja does need to connect to our server. TableNinja connects to the internet in the following cases:

  1. On start-up.
  2. When you open the Purchase/Update menu.
  3. When you use your purchase code to unlock the full version.

These transactions are brief and no private information is transmitted save the email address used to purchase TableNinja and some machine specific information that we use in our licensing system.

We encourage users who are worried about privacy to run any kind of internet monitor like ZoneAlarm to verify that TableNinja only connects at these times and that the amount of data transmitted is far too small to contain any sensitive poker data.

Unfortunately we don't know of any way to 100% prove that our software doesn't contain any spyware. If anyone has suggestions as to other ways for us to demonstrate that TableNinja contains no spyware or malicious code we welcome them.

Q: Will TableNinja work with my AHK scripts?

A: We try to make TableNinja compatible with scripts and other programs when possible. However, there may be issues when using other programs, particularly ones that interact with PokerStars® tables. If you are running other programs or scripts with TableNinja and you find a feature does not work properly please try and turn off your other programs and see if you still have the same problem.

Q: How is the pot size calculated for the percentage pot bets?

A: When you are the first to bet on a given street the pot-size is simply the total amount bet on all previous streets. In situations where someone else has bet in front of you TableNinja calculates a pot-percentage bet as the amount of chips that have been bet prior to your action plus half of a minimum raise times the specified percentage, plus half of a minimum raise. For example, if you are first to act on the flop and the pot is 1000 and 80% pot bet would 800. As a second example, if the small blind and the big blind post the blinds and two players limp an 80% pot sized bet would be 4.6 big blinds. That's 80% of 4.5 big blinds plus one additional big blind.

Q: TableNinja doesn't seem to be reading the pot size correctly, how can I fix this?

A: If TableNinja is unable to read the pot an error message will pop-up from the system tray stating, "Could not determine the current pot size." To fix this first make sure that nothing (including your HUD) is covering the box displaying the pot size at the top of the PokerStars® window. Then check that you have PokerStars® configured according to our Required PokerStars® Settings. If you continue to have problems please ask for help on the TableNinja Forums.
